Colonel F. H. Greenhongh left for the South by train last evening. Dr. Douglas GbWiie, bas gained the degree cf F.8.C.5., Ediaburgh. Mr. J. A. Carpenter, of Wellington, and Mr. A. E. Weeks, of London, are at the Grand Hotel. Mr. and Mrs. W. Riddell, of Melbourne, and Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Findlay, of Duoedin, are at the Grand Hotel. Archdeacon Ward and Mrs. Ward, o? Goulbnrn, New Sooth Wales, arrived by the Port Nicholson yesterday from London. Mr. V. I. Blake, Commissioner of Crown Lands, Gisborne, retires cn superannuation at the end of the ypw. He intends taking up residence in Auckland. Brigadier-Genera' R. L A. Pennington arrived from London by the Port Nicholson yesterday cn a holiday visit. He is accompanied by Mrs. Pennington, and hopes to spend several months ir> New Zealand and to sample the ashmg. He will reside part of the time with relatives near Horahora. Brigadier-General Pennington was formerly in command at Hvthe, where be made the acquaintance of Major J. A. Wallingford, now resident in Auckland.
