HIGHWAYS SUBSIDY.
THE INCREASED AMOUNT. not applicable generally. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] ASHBUKTON, Thursday. In reply to an inquiry by the County Council as to the position under the recent legislation by which the subsidy on main highways has been increased from pound for pound to £2 for £l, the Prime Minister to day stated that the increased amount would be granted to public bodies wherever the Main Highways Board deemed it necessary. It was not to apply as a general rule.
