WRECKED MERGANSER.
SALVAGE THOUGHT POSSIBLE. Renter. MADRID. Oct. 7. The British Consul at Oporto has bepn informed that the auxiliary yawl Merganser, in which Mr. W. Unitt and his daughter were proceeding ta New Zealand when it was wrecked, is not regarded as a total loss. Mr. Unitt is endeavouring to secure permission 'from the Spanish authorities to remove the craft, which was wrecked in Spanish waters. If it is still seaworthy, Mr. Unitt and bis daughter may return in the craft to England.
