AVONDALE AFFAIRS.
ELECTRIC POWER SUPPLY. MOTOR-BUS TIME-TABLES. The Avondale Borongh Council met on Wednesday, the Mayor, Mr. W. J. Tait, presiding. The Auckland Electric Power Board forwarded a plan showing a further list of streets in Avondale South which it was proposed to reticulata immediately. It was intimated that for the future any reticulation work in sparsely-popu-lated streets in Avondale South would entail an additional charge of 10 per cent, to the consumers concerned. This intimation did not meet with the approval of the council, but no action was taken. It was resolved to widen the roadway at the lower end of Rosebank Road to allow of a turning place for motor-buses. A letter from a firm of motor-bus owners submitting a proposed time-table led to some criticism regarding certain motor-buses already running between the borough and the city. It was considered that steps should be taken to ensure a proper service being maintainedThe council decided that all local motorbus proprietors should be asked to submit time-tables for approval. Considerable discussion arose over an application from certain property owners that the council should accept dedication of a piece of land which they purposed to form into a road to suit their own requirements. It would give a connection between Argyle Street and Great North Road. A motion was put that the council should accept dedication on the piece of land being formed, but an amendment that the proposed formation should comply fully with the reading bylaws was carried by a substantial majority. The building inspector reported that during the past fortnight 18 building permits had been issued.
