NEW LAUNCH FOR THE MANUKAU. A new launch, built to the order of Mr. C. W. White, of Selwyii Street, Onehunga, by 11. Lang, of St. Mary s Bay, was launched this week, and after undergoing her trials was conveyed by lorry to Onehunga, where she is to take up her running in the passenger trade. The boat is 43ft. long, 10ft. 6in. beam, and has accommodation for 86 passengers. She is fitted with electric light, cushioned seats and every convenience for the coinfort of those who will travel by her. Her power plant is a 90 h.p. Stearns engine, fitted with electric starter, which gives the boat a speed of ten knots when fully loaded. Awhitu, as the boat has been named, will run regular trips between Onehunga Wharf, calling at Cornwallis, Orua Bay, Huia and Whaiipu. At present she will leave every Wednesday and Saturday, but will run more frequently in the summer. She will make her maiden trip next Saturday, leaving Onehunga Wharf at 2 p.m. Eull information can be obtained on phone 12-563.—Advt.
