DEVONPORT BOROUGH.
CONTROL OF BUS TRAFFIC. CONFERENCE TO BE CALLED. Hie Devonport Borongh Council met. last evening, the Mayor, Mr. T. Lamorit. presiding. With a view to controlling the' bus traffic and requesting the speed at which buses may travel, the council decided to call a conference between bus proprietors and the traffic inspector. The solicitors for the estate of the late Mr. F. R. D. Watson forwarded a cheque for £2OO, being a further instalment from the estate. This amount, together with any further allocation, is to be applied to construction of the seawall along King Edward Parade. The firm of New Zealand Roads, Limited, stated that in its efforts to minimise the inconvenience caused to residents in the vicinity of Stanley Street through the operations of the stone crushers, steps had been taken to reduce the noise from the machinery. An additional crusher was now in operation, and all metal required for the roads would be crushed within two weeks. The plant •would then be removed. The; engineer reported that, the formation of the Vauxhall tennis courts was in hand. The drainage and road formation on the cemetery reserve was being proceeded with.
