GREAT DAM IN SUDAN. COMPLETION OF THE WORK. IRRIGATION SCHEME BEGUN. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received 8.35 p.m.) Renter. LONDON. Oct. 6. Sir Geoffrey Archer, Governor-General of the Sudan, states that the great Sudan cotton irrigation scheme is now an accomplished fact. The dam has been completed and already 80,000 acres of land are under cotton. The completion of the scheme will result in 3,000,000 acres being available for cotton-growing under a three yearly system.
