Serious disturbances occurred at Hamah, a town in Syria. , The inhabitants, aided by Bedouins, attacked the public buildings and disarmed the local police. A detachment of Syrian cavalry drove back the r-bels and reinforcements were rushed to the scene. Thirty rebels were shot. Order has now been re-established. REVOLT OF OFFICERS. FRENCH ARMY SENSATION. OBJECTIONS TO DRUSE WAR. Sun . PARIS. Oct. 6. The newspaper Le Soir draws attention to a sensational revolt of the officers of the Belfort garrison. When volunteers were called for, to form a draft for Syria to fight against the Druse rebels, 600 poilus volunteered, but not a single officer responded, with the exception of Commandant Charnonoux. Thereupon a number of officers were named, including Captains Hermann and Biau. Both refused to go to Syria, preferring to resign their commissions. The troops subsequently hooted Hermann, who is believed to have been influenced by the newspaper campaign against General Sarrail. The walls of Belfort are placarded with a denunciation of Hermann's conduct. It is announced that the Government has ordered an inquiry into the Syrian operations.
