AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE. Greater activity was evident oa nfcbe Auckland sharemarket yesterday, labile there was enough interest in Taijanaki Oil shares to result in seven sales, the last two being on a rising marked. In Government securities there was a sale of the 19.38 issue of Inscribed Stock at £96 ss, 15s below the previous sale figure. Only two other issnea of Government securities were in demand. In banks New Zealands sold at the ruling price of 56s 9d, late holders asking /575, buyers 56s 6d. In insurances New [Zeaiands were fivepence weaker to seß at 36s Id, closing holders 36s 4d, buyers 365. South British also declined and sold at 50s, sixpoiiee below the previous sa'.s price. Late holders were at 60s, buyers being at 49s 6d, In gas there wece two sales of Auckiands at 22s Id, a penny below Tuesday's figure. The contributing issue of Aackiands changed "hands at 6s 4a. Closing quotations were 6s 6d, buyers 6s 2d. In miscellaneous lines, holders of New Zealand Breweries wore again firmer and asked 555, an advance of ss, bat buyers did not respond and were as a matt**' of fact sixpence below/ Tuesday's figure of 47s 6d. Kemptl|orn<»,. Prosser sold at S4s 6d. \ sale of S/n----ford, Ltd. (pref.), took place at, £os. Sales of Taranaki Oil occurred Bit each call. Closing holders quoted 225, buyers 21s 6d. In mining IKawaraus tuada a recovery, holders advancing nearly 3s to 9s, "with closing buyers at 7s 3d. Waihis were again available at 25s 9d, with buyers at 25s 3d.
