KAIPARA DAIRYING.
IMPROVEMENT IN HERDS. A gratifying improvement in the dairy herds of the Kaipara district is shown by the returns for September of the Kaipara Dairy Company's Cow Testing Association. The average return for the month, from a total of 642 cows tested, was 32.271b. of butter-fat, compared with 28.871b. from 731 cows tested during September, 1924, an average increase of 3.341b. This increase, it is stated, would have been larger had not a spell of bad weather set in during the testing period. The highest return was from a herd of eight cows which gave a return of 11851b. of milk with an average test of 4.25, making a return of 50.221b. of butter-fat. The figures for the lowest herd comprising 12 cows were, 4931b. of milk, testing 4.10, giving a return of 20.441b. of butterfat. The highest individual return was 12901b. of milk, testing 5.0, giving 64.501b. of butter-fat. The lowest individual return was 2701b. of milk, testing 3.2, giving 8.641b. butter-fat.
