THE RABBIT INDUSTRY.
PROFIT IN THE SKINS. MORE MONEY THAN IN WOOL. [from OUR OWN CORRESPONBEKT. ] SYDNEY. Oct. 1. A recent statement that the rabbiters on a western holding in New South Wales were making more than the graziers, has been paralleled by a similar instance in the Albury district. Tha chairman of the Urana Pastures Protection Board, in the Albury district, announced at the last meeting of that body that a rabbiter who has been operating in that neighbourhood had obtained mora for the rabbit skins -off one holding than the owner of the property had secured for his wool. There was also a statement by the same man that he was recently informed in Sydney by the owner of 200,000 acres of land that if he could catch all the rabbits on his land they would realise more money than his sheep. From all this there looks to be, some room for rabbit-farming along well-organised scientific lines. If Australian genius has developed the merino, why cannot it increase the rabbit both in size and in value of its coat?
