EIGHTY-NINE YESTERDAY.
RESIOENT OF HAMILTON. [BY TTLEGRAPH.-—OWN CORIIESPOKDKNT.] HAMILTON*. Wed«.t>»dat Hamilton's oldest resident, Mr. Phillip Le Quesuo, celebrated his 89th birthday to-day. He came to New Zealand by the ship Avon (Captain Riciardson) from the Island of Jersey 65 years ago, and siryears later settled in Hamilton. He has never bean oat, o! the Auckland Province siuce. Mr. Le CJhiesne was for many years in business in Hamilton East and built the first store and the first hall in the town. For many years he took an active part in the public life of the town, and stil! regularly performs his duties as a sidesman m St. Peter's Anglican Church. Although refused for insurance 36 years ago he enjoys splendid health, and is in full possession of all his faculties. To day's event was marked by a happy reunion, and Mr. Le Quesne was 'the recipient of many congratulations.
