MEMORIES OF VISIT. MESSAGE TO SIR R. H. RHODES. [3Y TELEGRAPH. —PRESS WELLINGTON, Wednesday. The Minister for Defence, Hon. Sir li. Heaton Rhodes, has received a letter from Vice-Admiral H. A. Wiley, commander of the battleship division of United States Navy, containing a highly appreciative message of thanks. for the hospitality extended to his colleagues and himself during the visit of the American ships to New Zealand. " May I take this opportunity," he writes, "of thanking you, and through you the people of New Zealand, on be half of mv officers and men, as well as on my own personal account, for the really extraordinary hospitality and ex pressions of friendliness which made our visit so very pleasant. Our appreciation of your kindness is so very real and en thusiastic that I take it you yourself noticed it just about every time you saw and heard us. I assure yon that the memory of it all is no less pleasant than was the actual occasiop."
