Metropolitan Trottin" Club. December s—Waikato Trotting Club. NOTES BY PICADOR. Imprint confirmed tho Rood impression he created when he won at Auckland by accounting for the Bollard Handicap Wellington on Saturday. There w no doubt that he is a good pacer, and further »ucc*Bß should come his way in the near He lias been entered for the leadmg e\ents at the forthcoming Auckland meetingThe feature of tho first day of the Wellington Trotting, Club » spring M was the success achieved by S, M, Augus , who won with Firpo, Buz Buz and .bora Nepean. His accompli shin c>rrt was no mean effort in these days of keen competition. The New Zealand Trotting Cup candidate First Carbine was associated with txlandore and Moneymaker in a work-out over two miles at Alexandra Park on Saturday. lne track was heavy and the horses were wide out, but it was a useful piece of work, ttie time being sm, Glandore paced well ana finished slightly in front of i irst Carbine, who is a lazy worker. Moneymaker showed some dash for about a mile and a-half ana then tired. Clan-lore has a bright appears.nce and is thriving well. This horse is pacing with plenty of determination and seems to be on the improve. If A. Brown can induce him to leave the mark correctly this season trio chances are that tho son of Honest Huon will win good races. Tannhauser and Florrie Bingen continue to do nicely and were noticed indulging in some sound hopple work early in the week. Both are in first-class health and looii Iwe doing well during tho current season. The Australian-bred gelding Rockbura is now being tried as a trotter, and is shaping really well. J. O'Kane has been handling him in his work and has him hitting out in good style. E. Sandall is busy with Florrie Roe. who is making a little improvement. The same trainer is also working a maiden pacer by Gold Bell and an upstanding maiden trotter. The young iiacer has a nice style, but is on the small sic!e. The maiden pacer Barney Thorpe (by Our Thorpe—Dorothy Dimple) and a four-y arold mare by Jewel Chimes from Cast Pearl are recent additions to H. Kinntmont's team. The latter is a full-Bister to Prize Pearl. Moneymaker is standing up to his work satisfactorily and has been infusing plenty of dash into his track efforts. As he is now in his sixteenth yeai he may be past his best, but he can still muster up a dash of speed. The trotters Wimmera King and Lady Stepney are receiving plenty of attention from 11. Milieu. The former is in hard condition and should be equal to putting forth a big effort at the coming meeting. Haricot has done well since the fleet meeting in August and is now much improved in condition. This mare has not been a success in New Zealand and seems to lack a little class. It is in her favour that the unhoppled races look like being easier to win at the coming meeting than they have been for some time. Some Jazz is shaping well enough to encourage his owner to persevere further with him. Since coming from Australia he has been an utter failure and his form has fallen much short of expectations. It may be advisable to wait and see how _he performs again in public before placing any confidence in him. The erratic Delavan Bill is still among the regular workers at Alexandra Park. Most trainera wouid have tired of him ere this, but W. Wilson has not yet given up hope of winning a race with him. Delavan Bill would be a good class horse only for his behaviour on race days. Good reports have beon in circulation concerning Nelson Derby, and signs were not .wanting in Auckland on Saturday that his chance in tho Wellington Handicap was fancied by not a few. Nelson Derby failed to gain a situation and evidently he failed to stay on the heavy track. Nelson Derby may do better on a firm track. Acceptances for all events to be decided on the first day of the Auckland Trotting Club's Spring Meeting close on Friday next at 5 p.m.
