Mr. and Mrs. P. Windsor, of London, and Mr. and Mrs. A. Blancheville, of Paris, are at the Grand Hotel. Dr. T, Lawton, of Brisbane, Mr. J. Wilson, of Suva, Mr. C. R. Robieson, Mr. A. J. Stephens, and Mr. P- S- Griffin, of Wellington, are at the Royal Hotel Mr. William Shesikin, of Grey Lynn, has received advice that his s n, Mr. Morris Shenkin, has passed the third professional examination in medicine at Edinburgh University. Mr. H. E. Powell and Mr. S. Henry, of Sydney, Mr. L. J. Brincourt, of Paris, Mr. J. H. Rhodes, of Melbourne, and Mr. C. W. Crocker ; Mr. Briton Smith and Mr. C. W, Rushbrook, of Wellington, are at the Grand Hotel. Mr. N. C, Kensington, commissioner of Crown lands and chief surveyor at Nelson, has been promoted to the position ?f commissioner of Grown lands and chief surveyor for Southland. He expects to leave for Invercargill about the end cf the week. Commander C. E. Brooke, R.N., arrived by the Ulimaroa from Sydney yesterday to take over the command of H.M.S. Laburnum from C mmander Smythe, R.N., who has completed his two-year commission and will shortly return to England. Mr. G- E. Overton and Mr. P. EBraithwaite, of Sydney, Mr. F. W t Vickerman, Mr. F. A. Fish, Mr. R. N. Fish, Mr- T. J. Perkins, Mr. J. S. Payne, Mr. P. Evans and Mr. F. J. Word, of Wellington, and Mr. F. Mackay, of Hamilton, are at the Central Hotel. Detective A. B. Meiktajohn, who has been a member of the Auckland detective staff for the past fiva years, has received notice of his transfer to New Plymouth in succession to Detective-Sergeant Cooney, who is retiring. Mr. Me-iklejohu will leave for New Plymouth on Friday. Bishop Geary returned to Auckland yesterday after a short visit to Australia, where he attended the celebrations in connection with the fiftieth anniversary of the ordination to the priesthood of Bishop O'Connor, of ArmidaJe. The celebrations extended over three days ena were attended by prelates from all p- .Is of Australia and New Zealand, including Archbishop Redwood.
