SOCIAL SERVICE WORK.

PRESBYTERIAN AGTSVITIES. The Auckland P'-esbyterian Social Service Association held its annual meeting in St. David's Hall, Khvber Pass, last evening. The Rev. L. L. Hunt, moderator of the Presbytery, presided. The reports of the various organisations of the association were read and adopted. Addresses bearing on the question of raising funds for orphanage work were given by the Rev. E. R. Harries and the Rev. Morrison Sutherland. An interesting account of how the Southern orphanages had rid themselves of their debts was given by the Rev. J. Collie, of Invercargill. He expressed the the hope that the bank overdraft on the Auckland organisations would also be extinguished in the near future. The following members of the committee, who retired by rotation, were reelected :—The Revs. D. D. Scott, J. Lamb Harvey, and J. Lowden, Messrs. J. Stewart, F. W. Matthew, W. Morrison and R. J. Sims The president of the association announced that the fund inaugurated by the boys of the Onehunga Orphanage for the installation of electric light had now risen to £7B.
