NEGLIGENT DRIVING.
TWO HAMILTON MOTORISTS. COLLISIONS WITH CYCLISTS. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] HAMILTON, Monday. A fine of £3 was imposed on a land agent, Roy Kemp, for driving a motorcar negligently. A cyclist was knocked over as the result of a collision with Kemp's car. The magistrate, Mr. H. A. Young, remarked that there was poor visibility on the night of the accident. Tile car was travelling slowly and was pulled up immediately after the collision. A charge of negligently driving a motor-car in Heaphy Terrace, Claudelands, was preferred against a skin buyer, James McLean. Defendant, who .did not appear, intimated that he would plead guilty. The police stated that when turning his car from Heaphy Terrace into Hukanui Road, defendant collided with a cyclist. The magistrate fined McLean £lO, and in addition ordered him to pay £5 compensation to the cyclist for personal injuries. A claim for compensation for damage to the machine should be the subject of a civil case. Defendant's driving license was endorsed.
