BLIGHT AND BLACKBERRY.
GOOD RESULTS IN NORTH. [JET TEI.EGRAPH, —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WHANGAKEI. Monday, At a meeting of the Kauri branch of the Farmers' Union reference was made to the beneficial results of a blight which attacked blackberries in the district last year. The fruit was only half-grown last summer and the blight almost destroyed the plants. Instances were cited by Mr. James Peat of areas over which cattle were grazing to the ground to-day where there bad been an impenetrable growth of blackberries 12 months ago. It was resolved to invite the Department of Agriculture to investigate the friendly blight.
