GERMAN PACIFIST.
WAR OCCUPATION GONE. AIRCRAFT TO COMPEL PEACE. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 7.5 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 4. Herr Max Bauer, who was artillery expert on the German general staff during the war, and was known as " father of the Big Berthas," has deserted war in favour of an industrial position in Argentina. He says he has become a pacifist because there will not be enough wars in future. " The Atlantic will be traversed m from 10 to 15 hours by aeroplanes," says Herr Bauer, " and that will end wars, because when aerio,l fleets can attack capitals and the Parliaments that start wars, the war-makers will hesitate to risk their own skins."
