Monday, The question of grading potatoes sent out of the Pukekohe district has been investigated by a representative committee of business men arid growers. After carefully considering the position from the various points of view the committee agreed that unless undertaken on the farms by the growers themselves grading was impracticable, as it would necessitate special buildings with special grading apparatus and special staff, entailing unwarranted expense and confusion, besides risk of damaging the potatoes and retarding business. The only remedy lay between the Pukekohe merchants and the growers themselves, and improvement could only come by educating growers to the importance of good marketing; methods.
