BREEDING GAME BIRDS.
ENTERPRISE at papakura. j A somewhat novel primary industry as ! far as private enterprise is concerned is j the breeding of feathered game. A I branch of this, namely, pheasant-rearing, has been taken up in the Papakura dis- ' trict. One breeder, Mr. A. G. Smith, of j Redhill, has imported selected birds from EngLond for the past three years, crossing the ring-necked variety with the black-necked. The progeny of this cross is stated to be, an ideal game bird, and that a demand for them is being established is evidenced by the fact that last i month a consignment of 90 full-grown bird., ten months old. was sent to Temuka,' Canterbury, for liberation on behalf of the South Canterbury AccliI matisation Society.
