Archdeacon WOliamit left for Wellington by train last evening. - Mr. P. Shaw, president of the Inverca*gill Rotary Club, was present at the meeting of the Auckland Rotary Club yesterday. Mr. J. W. Poynton, S.M., left last evening for New Plymouth, where ha will bo engaged in relief duty for two or tbree weeks. Mr. and Mrs. R. C. SelJar returned by the Tofua yesterday after making the round trip of the Islands of the Western Pacific. Colonel A. J. Goss and Miss Goss, of Bristol, England, and Mr. and Mrs. C, M. Grey, of Apia, Samoa, are at the Central Hotel. Mr. B. E. Todhnnter, of London, Mr. J. D, Tanner, of Sydney, Mr. W. G. Sloman, of Melbourne, Mr. J. B. Grange, of Wellington, and Mr. J. Seadgoing, of Christchurch, are at the Grand Hotel. Dr. A. R. Rivers, Dean of Hobart, who has been visiting the Islands of the Western Pacific, returned to Auckland yesterday by the Tofua. He will leave at the end of the week for Sydney on his return to Tasmania. Colonel C. 'H. Meares. who was a member of the Scott Expedition to the Antarctic in 1910 in charge of the ponies and dogs, arrived by the Tofua yesterday, accompanied by Mrs. Meares. Thej- recently travelled from Vancouver to Suva where they joined the Tofua for the ronnd trip of the Islands. Colonel and Mrs. Meares are at the Grand H6teL Mr. A. S. Cruickshank, who has just retired from the position of Commissioner of Police in Sf-moa, a post he has held for the past three years, reached Auckland by the Tofia yesterday.
