KING'S COLLEGE CHAPLAIN.

APPOINTMENT ANNOUNCED.

THE REV. F. P. DE L. WILUS.

To fill the vacancy caused by the Rev. N. Robertshawe taking np parish work as vicar of Thames, the Board of Governors of King's College has appointed the Rev. F, P, de L. Willis to the position of chaplain. Ho is a son of the late 4*chdeacon Willis, of Waikato, who was also Vicar of Cambridge for over 30 years.

The new chaplain was bora at Cambridge, and, after passing through the local school, he went to Christ's College. Chris tchurch. His school, career was a highly creditable one, and besides holding his own in scholarship, he played for two years in the first fifteen, being a strenuous and tireless forward. He attended the Auckland University College from St. John's College, where he was in residence under Canon P. T. Williams. He attained the degree of M.A. with first-class honours in political science, history being his favourite study. He served for about three years with the Imperial Army and was severely wounded in 1917. Mr. Willis took advantage of his enforced inaction to go to Christ Church, Oxford, and there he tock his M.A. with honours in history. At' Oxford he was especially interested m literary pnrsuits and was a prominent member of more than one society. Ho afterwards held a, scholastic appointment at Knutsford. Deciding to take orders, he went into residence at Cuddesdon, and after passing through the usual period of training he went to work in the diocese of Manchester, being a curate in the parish of Bury, under Canon (now Bishop) Hill. He was ordained deacon in 1923 and priest in 1924. Ho joins the staff of King's Collego at the beginning of 1926. It is interesting to note that the name on the St. John's memorial window in the King's College chapel is that of his j brother, Brian do L. Willis.
