FATAL MOTOR CRASH.

When rounding a sharp corner on the Kaiata Road this morning a motor-lorry carrying twenty workmen to Greymouth skidded and capsized. Threa men were injured and taken to hospital. One of them, Francesco Calbana, died at 9.40 p.m. A second victim, Fred. McGrath, is suffering from a broken pelvis and ribs and also bouy injuries. His condition is serious. The third man, William Currie, suffered only slightly. Seventeen others escaped unhurt. All were employees of Mr. W. Hart, contractor for the Dobson power house, and . were returning to Greymouth, rain having held up work. Eye witnesses state that the accident, was caused by a greasy patch of ground on which the heavily-laden lorry skidded and overturned, but a contributing factor was a thick growth of gorse at the corner which affects visibility. A motor-car, outward bound from Greymouth, was approaching the corner and the lorry driver pulled out wide to give the car a cleatpassage. Striking a very greasy patch the lorry capsized. Only the windscreen was broken and the vehicle was restored to the road by roan power and resumed the journey to Greymouth. The injured were token to hospital in another car,
