MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS.
Four-In-Hand.—The rise to connect with No. 4 lovel from the intermediate has advanced sft, a total distance of 15ft. The pass air pipes and necessary timbering has been completed. The country rock being penetrated is of a good description and the hanging wall portion of the Four-In-Hand reef looks well. A shift will be employed next week on the Tainui section of the property south of the old workings. At this point recently gold was obtained by dish prospects. Kuranui.—Driving on the N.E. trend of the reef has been continued, good progress being made. The reef in the face is more stringy than hitherto, the quartz being good-looking, and showß good mineral in the sione. The ground encasing the reef is of a favourable description for gold, and ail improvement in -the reef may be looked for at any time. No work has been done on the cross reef since the last report, as the men have been engaged forming the road from the quartz paddock, to connect with the main road, preparatory to forwarding the quartz to thetiattery for cruabinjt. Rising Sun.—No. 3 level. No. 3 reef: An extension of 51ft. has been made., makins: a total of 56ft. south of No. 1 stoping block. The country penetrated has become very much harder, causing progress to be slow. The many stringers coming m from the eastern wall have joined up. making a lode Win wide. The main lode remains about 18in.\ separated from the leader formation by 18in. &of country rock. Intermediate level: An extension of 7Jft. has been made, making a total of 43ft. south of the stope. The lode shows no change. The country rock is oxidised. Battery: For the week, September 3 to 9, 10 stamps ran 17.37 hours, crushing approximately 18 tons, worth £6 2s 6d per ton. ____________
