NOTES FROM TAURANGA.
THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TAURANGA, Tuesday. The Tauranga Chamber of Commerce set up a sub-committee to confer with the District High School Committee regm ding the establishment of a high school. A committee was set up to gather information relative to the Kaimai Road for rubmission to the chairman of the Main Highways Board, and another commit;ec was appointed to collect data concerning shipping with the South and forward it to the two shipping companies interviewed: Mr. A. H. H. Stotfc, who has been promoted to the position of postmaster at Taupo, was the recipient of a cake s.and from the staff of the Tauranga Post and Telegraph Office. Arrangements are being a Government surveyor to visit Tauranga to survey launches which are to ply to Mayor Island.
The report presented to the annual meeting of the Tauranga Jersey Club disclosed a successful year. The following officers were elected: —President, Mr. H. G. Lever; vice-president, Mr. H. Dumbell; secretary and treasurer, Mr. W. T. London; committee, Messrs, E. EollingworUi, G. Sutton, E. Hofmann, M. D. Mearas. The first round of the men's golf championship resulted:—A. Matheson beat R. Berrill; It. Renshaw beat R. Pelham; D. Corrigan beat G. Pott; R. P. Baigont beat R. H. Phelan. A further round of tho Cameron Cup was played, the scores being: R. Berrill, 74; R. P. Baigent, 74; A. Matheson, 76: G. A. Gibbs, 78; F. E. Boyd, 79; E. T. Baker, 81; E. H. Crowley, 81; A. Bartram, 82; H. P.' Butts, 82; G. Crowley, 83; J. H. Garrett, 83; F. E. Nutter, 87*; R. Goulding, 87; R. Renshaw, 89; G. Potts, 91: F. H. Ibbotsen, 91.
