BEAM WIRELESS.
CONSIDERABLE progress. SHORT WAVES IN DAYLIGHT. Australian and N.Z. Cablo Association. (Rccd. 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 1. At tho annual meeting of Marconi, Limited, Signor Marconi announced that very considerable progress had been made with the beam system. Whereas it was formerly believed that the short waves used under that system wero most efficient in the hours of darkness or semi-darkness, tests under his directions had conclusively proved that still shorter waves were more effective throughout tho world in daytime than at night. For instance he had .rccontly communicated with Australia and Canada for 96 hours continuously.
