NINETY-SEVENTH BIRTHDAY
A HARDY OLD COLONIST. A hardy old colonist, Mr. Thomas Richardson, of Randolph Street, Newton, who arrived in New Zealand in 1867, will celebrate his 97th birthday to-day. Mr. Richardson was born at Pennicuick, tfear Edinburgh, in 1828, when George IV. Vfas reigning. He has thus lived under fivo sovereigns, the others being William iy., Victoria, Edward VII., and George V. Though perhaps a little less vigorous than a year ago, when an account of his cateer appeared in the Herald, Mr. Richardson is still hale and hearty and in possession of all his facilities.
