NEW LYNN AFFAIRS.
TOWN BOARD'S DECISIONS. The Now Lynn Town Board met on Monday, tho acting-chairman, Mr. li. S. Wilding, presiding. There were also present Messrs. A. Shaw, I. Hughes, I*. Roberts and E. Stacey. Dr. Close wrote resigning his appointment as chief sanitary inspector. Hie resignation was accepted with regret. It was decided not to make a further appointment in tho meantime. Tho extension of the footpath in Totara Street was agreed to, the residents concerned to be aaked to help to do formation work. Arawa Street grievances were voiced by Mr. McWhirter, as a result of which the board authorised certain work to be done. A petition was received from residents of Portage Road asking for repairs. It was decided to provide scoria if the petitioners would spread it. The building inspector reported that during the previous fortnight 10 permits had been granted of a total estimated value of £3713- There were 12 hottMk in course of erection. * The foreman submitted a report regarding the formation of a footpath in Seabrook Avenue from the school to Gardner Street. The work was sanctioned. It, was decided that Totara Avenue and Portage Road be patched from the railway station to the tannery hill. Mr. Hughes drew the board's attention to the fact that the present board had been.in office" for nine months and during that period the Finance Committee had not functioned. He gave notice of motion: "That as the Finance Committee has not functioned it be called upon either to act immediately or to resign."
