WOOL STABILISATION.
THE MELBOURNE CONFERENCE DOMINION DELEGATION. SEEKING MORE INFORMATION. [UTf TIsUEGKAPH. —PItESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH. Tuesday. The proposal formulated in Australia that the B.A.W.R.A, organisation, under tho presidency of Sir John Higgins, Should bo utilised for the purpose of stabilising the wool market has received consideration from the New Zealand Sheep Owners' Federation. The secretary,. Mr. W. H. Nicholson, said the matter of wool stabilisation in Australia and New Zealand had been receiving tho attention of the executive of the federation for some months, the importance of the project to the New Zealand sheep owners being fully recognised. The federation executive had been in constant touch with Sir John Higgins and the Australian Wool Growers' Council by cable for some considerable time and tho New Zealand Federation had arranged to be represented at the conference in Melbourne on June 23 by Mr. B. H. Tripp and himself. With a representative from the Otago sheep owners they would attend the conference for the purpose of obtaining first-hand information concerning the proposals to be brought forward from various parts of Australia, and to hear the views of Sir John Higgins based on his experience with B.A.W.R.A. as to the practicability of the inclusion of New Zealand in any arrangements that might be made-under the scheme.
The delegates from New Zealand do not propose to commit themselves in any way at the conference, but will obtain information -J on various points which appear 1 to the executive to require elucidation at the present stage from the point of view of New Zealand growers. The delegates will leave for Wellington to-morrow, night to join the Maunganui and expect to return in about a month.
