SECURITY OF EUROPE.
NEGOTIATIONS FOR TACT. EARLY AGREEMENT POSSIBLE. BRITAIN SUPPORTS GERMANY. EASTERN FRONTIER EXCLUDED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received 5.5 p.m.) Renter. LONDON. May 30. According to authoritative statements issued in London and in Paris yesterday the clarification oF the European situation has made such progress that a complete agreement may be shortly expected. In neither London nor Paris was it stated of what the outstanding differenco consists, but comments by Paris and Berlin newspapers to-day indicate that Britain insists on tho limitation of tho security pact to Germany's western frontier as Germany has proposed. The statement made in London yesterday was to the effect .that tho expectation of an agreement was based on the hope and belief that France would adopt suggestions which represented tho unanimous view of the British Government. This.is interpreted by the Berlin paper, Boersen Courier, as something like an ultimatum. The French writer, Pertinax, says: "Britain repeats her splendid isolation formula, which is an encouragement of German revenge in East Europe." He adds: "Belgium approves of the British viewpoint."
