GARDNER CUP ROUND. The first round for the Gardner Cup was played on Saturday by members of the Maungakiekie Golf Club at tho Titirangi links. Tho greens and fairways wero in very good order, notwithstanding the hoavy rum on the previous day. No fewer than 7S players took part in the match. The best card returned was that of H. B. Andorson, whoso gross score was 77, ono under bogey for tho course. After deducting Anderson's handicap of 9 it left him with 68 net. The other best cards were:—T. A. Goulding, 74, 4—70; R. J. GLENDOWIE CLUB. Medal play for the captain's foursome handicap was continued by members of the Glendowio Golf Club ou the Glendowio links on Saturday. The Winter Show tournament held by the Hamilton club on the St. Andrew's links was concluded to-day in dull weather, heavy rain falling in the afternoon. The principal event of the tournament was tho Winter Show Cup competition, which was won by D. Hay, of Hamilton, who beat F. Trice, 4 and 3. ... A medal handicap played thin morning resulted a-s follows:—P. Western, 90, 12—78; T. Morpeth, 89, 10—79; S. Ellis, 90, 10—80; H. Bray, 92, 9—83; A. Gillies, 92, 9—83. In the afternoon a pairs best-ball bogey competition was played, resulting as, follows ; _Drs. Spencer and Winter, 8 up; T. Mortieth and. G. Morpeth, 7 up; S. Ellis and H. Bray, 5 up; D. Bees and P.
