WATER IN MILK CART.
BREACH OF REGULATIONS. SUPPLY FROM A TROUGH. Milk and water are liquids which mix with such ease that far-seeing legislation prohibits milk-vendors from carrying both in the same cart. With the object of eliminating possible temptation, the regulations forbid the carrying of water for even the most innocent purposes. A breach of the regulations while in charge of a milk delivery cart resulted in the prosecution of a youth in the Police Court yesterday. Senior-Sergeant Edwards said a Health Department inspector saw defendant stop his vehicle at a trough and fill an empty can from the water supply. He put the can in the cart, where there were milkcans. On behalf of defendant, Mr. Rogers said tho breach was committed in ignorance. The water was not placed in a milk-can. Defendant wanted it for washing purposes. The magistrate, Mr. Poynton, agreed that there were no grave features, and imposed a fine of £l.
