SIR JOSEPH WARD.
RE-ENTRY INTO POLITICS. VIEWS OF SIR H« BEAUCHAMP. " Thero is, in my opinion, absolutely 110 difference in the politics of the two sets of Liberals, and it would be greatly to the advantage of the Dominion if a fusion could bo effected," said Sir Harold Boauchamp in an interview in Sydney last week. " Attempts were made to achieve this, but many of the old Liberals headed by Mr. Wilford would not givo their allegiance to_ Mr. Massey. With tho passing of vhe Prime Minister it is possible that something may now be done to consolidate tho Liberals, especially if Sir Joseph Ward is again returned to the House of Representatives. If he were returned I think ho would supplant, Mr. Wilford as tho Leader of the old Liberal Party, and ho would probably be acceptable as a leader to a largo number of members who up to tho present have been supporters of tho Reform Party, It remains, however, to bo seen if Sir Joseph Ward's health would stand the strain of an active political life."
