MOTU-OPOTIKI ROAD.

CLEAR TO LARGE SLIP. PASSENGERS GETTING THROUGH. [by telegraph.—own correspondent. ] GISBORNE. Tuesday. Several gangs of men were taken out from Opotiki yesterday to the Motu Road, and by evening had succeeded in clearing away all the slips with the exception of the large one about nine miles from Motu. Tho road is now open as far as the slip on each side, and (lie service cars recommenced running to-day, the passengers walking across the slip and transferring to the curs on the opposite side. A large gang is engaged on the slip and it is considered that the road will be clear in a few days' time.
