EMPIRE DAY AT HOME.
SERVICE AT WEMBLEY. AN IMPRESSIVE CEREMONY. Renter. LONDON. May 21. The Einpiro Day thanksgiving service at tho Wembley Stadium this afternoon was a solemn, impressive ceremony. In spite of the fact that the weather was chilly and showery, 80,000 people were present. King George was accompanied by Queen Mary, Prince Henry, the Duke and Duchess of York, Princess Mary, Viscount Lascelles, the Duke of Connaught, and tho Prince and Princess Arthur of Connaught. Viscount Cave, Lord Chancellor, Mr. L. C. M. S. Amery, Secretary of State for the Colonies Mr. W. C. Bridgeman, First Lord of the Admiralty, and Sir Philip Cuncliffe-Lister, president of the Board of Trade, were also present. Massed choirs supplied the music for the service.
OBSERVANCE IN SYDNEY. REFERENCE IN THE CHURCHES. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 9.5 p.m.) SYDNEY. May 25. Empire Day was celebrated in Sydney yesterday in the usual manner. References to the anniversary were made in the churches. To-day there were public demonstrations in the city and at tho university and public schools, when patriotic addresses were delivered.
