COLLISION AT CROSSING.
MOTORIST PROSECUTED. RAIN OBSCURES VISION. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. J WANGANUI. Monday. Tho necessity of observing the regulations in connection with railway crossings was emphasised at tho Magistrate's Court to-day, when Thomas Dick Harvey was fined £5, and costs £3 10s, for failing to take proper precautions when approaching a crossing at Marlon. The defence was that owing to drizzling rain interfering with visibility through tho windscreen, the motorist did not see the train, and in consequence came into collision with it. Neither the driver nor a friend with him were seriously hurt.
