CAB-DRIVER'S WINDFALL.
FIGHT OVER A BEQUEST. Fifty-nine. lawyers—22 senior counsel, 11 juniors and 26 solicitors—were engaged in a case that opened in the Dublin High Court last month. The action concerns the disposal of Some £20,000 out of the estate of the late Mrs. Lewis, widow of Mr. Harvey Lewis, a former M.PI for Hackney, and recalls the amazing romance of a " cabby's" £BO,OOO windfall. Mrs. Lewis, in her will, directed that on the sale of her real estate £BO,OOO should be spent in erecting a Harvey Lewis Memorial Hospital in Dublin, but as she died within three months, of the will being executed the real estate was vested in ner next of kin, William Browne who had been a Dublin cab-driver for 52 years. - Browne died 10 days after hearing of his good fortune, and only about £20,000 is available for the proposed hospital. All the local hospitals are represented in the case, which is expected to provide a long legal duel.
