AGRICULTURAL SCHOOLS.
URGENT IMPORTANCE. PRODUCING MORE FROM LAND. The necessity for extension of agricultural education, particularly in the secondary schools, was emphasised by Mr. S. Hodge, president of tho Auckland Agricultural Society, at the annual meeting yesterday. If this were not possible, he said, separate schools of agriculture should be established, with tho object of educating farmers' sons and others. The matter was 'of the greatest importance. Land was rising in value and the cost of production was greater than in tho past. It was necessary to produce as much as possible from every acre of land cultivated, and this could only be accomplished by havjng tho farmers of the future trained in tho higher branches of agriculture.
