PEA - RIFLE ACCIDENT.
MAN SHOT !N SHOULDER. CARRIED FOR TWO MILES. [lit TELEGRAPH. —OWN COCtT-ysPONDENI. ] TAIHAPE. Wednesday. Good progress toward recovery is being made at the Palinerskm North Hospital by Mr. Thomas ITedley, who was accidentally shot when rabbit shooting with a party on Mr. Howard Frankhouser's property at Ohingaiti early on Good Friday morning. The other members of the party were Messrs. John McLean, J. Mclveo, and two Frankhouser brothers. Mr. McLean, who wns under the impression that lie had emptied the mgazino of his pearifle, was working the repeater action when a cartridge was exploded. Air. Hedley was then seen to fall. When his friends went to his assistance it did not appear as if lie was very seriously injured, but a closer examination showed that the bullet had entered tho shoulder and penetrated the right armpit. A stretcher was improvised, and the injured man was carried two miles to the Bangiwahia Hotel, where he was attended by Dr. Bakewell, of Mangaweka, and Dr. Barnicoat, of Kimbolton, who ordered his removal to tlio l'almcrston North Hospital.
