ST. PAUL'S CATHEDRAL
WORK OF RESTORATION. EDIFICE PARTIALLY CLOSED. THE INTERNAL ALTERATIONS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received 7.5 p.m.) A. and N.Z. LONDON. Mar. D. The partial closing of St. Paul's Cathedral may be extended over two or three years. The jOrgan, with its Grinling Gibbons carving, and the choir are to be dismantled in order to allow the piers behind them to be examined. The altar is to be re-erected at the head of the nave. This will enable 1000 worshippers to attend services. The reason for the closing of the dome portion of the cathedral is not that it is dangerous, but the desirability of expediting the work of restoration as much as possible.
