After 20 had appeared Austin came on in place of Wallace, and Hansford replaced Liddicutt. Worker reached double figures with a single off Hansford. Shepherd banged Austin to the leg rails and 30 was hoisted. Another four and two to Shepherd made 10 off the over. The batsmen went on steadily, and four to Worker brought 50 up after 50 minutes' play. When 26 Shepherd gave a chance behind the wickets off Eansford.
