CRICKET COMPETITIONS.

THE CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS. PROSPECTS FOR TO-DAY, The senior championship matches commenced iast week, under the auspices of the Auckland Cricket Association, will be continued this afternoon. Owing to the wet weather, prospects for the batting sides were far from bright last night, and as two teams have a big margin to make up, they will be faced with a very difficult task. Against Eden at Eden Park, Grafton require 171 runs to avert a first- innings' defeat, and as they have lost only two wickets, they should make a good effort, unless the wicket is damaged by further rain to-day. Parnell will have to be at their best to overtake University's total of 282, for they have three wickets down for 35 runs, and No. 2 wicket is treacherous when wet. Ponsonby have the hardest task, for they will have to make over 300 runs for eight wickets to reach North Shore's first innings' score. Tho junior competitions will be continued. The Suburban Association competitions will be advanced a further stage. A new round in the senior competition will be commenced at the Domain.
