The Prime Minister issued the. following statement to-day: " With the settlements made during January 11 total loans paid out during the current financial year amount to £2138.362. The amount paid out during' the month was £210,071, private mortgagors £106,771, and local bodies £lO3 300. Further loans were granted to the amount of £84,225, private mortgagors £69,185 and local bodies £15.040. The total loans granted but not yet paid amount to £668,539, while amounts offered, being less than full, loans applied for, represent, a further £122.9X5. Applications on hand awaiting consideration amount, to £3,145,085. " The new busness for the month under review, £255,150, makes the total for the current:, year greater than the total for the whole of last year, and as there are still two months of the year remaining if. is clear that the increase for the year will be very considerable."
