ALLEGED EMBEZZLEMENT.
BANK OFFICIAL CHARGED. AMOUNT OF £SOO INVOLVED. [by telegraph.—press association.] KELSON. Friday. A bank official, Thomas George Scott Smith, was charged a.t Motueka to-day with having fraudulently converted to his own use money which should have been accounted for to the Bank of New Zealand at Motueka. The total sum involved was £499 9s 7(1. The alleged offences rango from November, 1923, to January last. After being formally charged accused was remanded to appear at" Motueka on February 19. Bail was granted, himself £l5O, and two sureties of £IOO each.
