Sensational allegations of high treason wore made to-day at the trial at Leipzig of the 16 Communists, who include Skoblevsky, an alleged general of the Russian lied army. Evidence was given to the effect that the accused were agents of Soviet Russia and that they endeavoured to start a Bolshevik Cheka in Germany. Neumann, a former official of the Communist Party, whom the Communists declared to bo a spy, deposed that a revolutionary military committee was formed in Germany in 1923 to purchase weapons with money supplied by the Russian Embassy at Berlin. Witness alleged that he onco received 25,(XX) American dollars for this purpose. Neumann said he also received instructions to get rid of General von Seeckt, the lato Hugo Stinnes, and other prominent industrialists. Continuing, Neumann stated that a meeting of Communists leaders in 1933 planned an armed outbreak, which was to have included a march to Berlin. Several Reichstag deputies were implicated in the plotting. Witness added that, in accordance with instructions, ho obtained phials of typhus and dysentery bacilli for use in food.
