RENT CLAIM SUCCEEDS.
BALMORAL ROAD HOUSE. A claim for £lB ior rent rnado by Henry Reginald Brindle (Mr. P. B. Fitzherbert) against Annie Briggs (Mr. Fennell), on the ground that defendant had vacated a house in Balmoral Iload which she had contracted to lease for three years; was heard by Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court yesterday. It was stated Mrs. Briggs went into occuoation and paid rent at the agreed rate "for nino months. She then vacated the house, giving only verbal notice of one week. Mr. Fennell said there were only two classes of tenancy in New Zealand, a tenancy by provable agreement or an implied tenancy terminable by one month's notice in writing. Judgment was given for plaintiff for the full amount claimed, with costs.
