WHEAT AND OAT CROPS.
THE ESTIMATED YIELD.

Tho following estimated average yields per acre of wheat and oats for the season 1924-25 have been compiled from reports furnished by stock inspectors of the Department of Agriculture throughout the Dominion: —• Wheat per acre. Oats per acre. Bushels. Bushels. North Island .. 29.98 34.09 Nelson . . 28.90 £9. Oil Marlborough . . 30.tt> 40.40 Canterbury .. 31.17 36.61 Otago . . 27.70 Hti.B7 Southland . . 30.00 42.90 The estimated average for the Dominion for tho 1924-25 season is 50.62 bushels of wheat per acre, and 38.08 bushels oi oats. The actual average for the season 1923-24 was 24.01 bushels of wheat and 30.77 bushels of oats. In accordance with the above estimates the total yield of wheat for the Dominion .should be approximately 5.000.000 bushels, as against an actual yield of 4,174,537 bushels for the seasoD 1923-24. Tho percentage of oats threshed for the five seasons ending with 1923-24 was 27.67 of the total area under that crop. Assuming that a similar proportion is threshed this year the total yield of gram should be approximately 5,000,000 bushels, as against an actual yield of 1,964,511 bushels for the seasou 1924-25.
