Word has been received that the war 1 -; ship Duncdm will arrive at Taurunea. next Monday and will bo here for three days. In connection with the visit a meeting .of representatives of ideal bodies was held to-day, when a tentative programme for submission to the commander was drawn up. Among the suggestions were proposals to run the ofilters to points of interest and around the borough, free admission to' pictures for officers and crow during their stay, and the entertainment of the officers at the Tauranga Club. The tennis club is holding matches to which the officers will be invited. The Mayor, Mr. B. Dive, and Mr. J. G. Greon were deputed to interview tho commander with regard to the entertainment of the men. A sitting of tho Native Land Court, before Judge Holland, was concluded at I.njranga to-day The business dealt with included the partition of tho famous Ph'l- - land, in the Te Puna district. About 20,000 sheep are now on the road, from Poverty Bay. to the Bay of Plenty and Walk ato districts, Most of 'hem breeding ewes. The object of the owners is to cater for the early lamb trade. A money order sn<il savings bank onka has been opened at Te Puna. The Borough Ccupril is taking steps to prevent the use of chains on the wheals of motor-cars, which have caused considerable damage to metalled roads m tho borough. The construction of the municipal abattoirs has been completed, and as soon as , the meat rails are instated the abattott# will bo ready for operation.
