SENTENCED FOR CRIME.
PALMERSTON NORTH CASES. [Bl* TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] PALMERSTON NORTH, Monday. In the Supremo Court to-day Samuel Knight, for obtaining money by means of valueless cheques, was sentenced to 18 months' hard labour. Arthur George Henry Sunnex was found guilty on a charge of carnally knowing girls at Dannevirke aged 15 years. The Judge said ho would pay due weight to the jury's recommendation of mercy and would not send prisoner to gaol. A sentence of reformative treatment for 18 months was imposed. James Barter, for indecently assaulting three boys, was sentenced to five years' hard labour ou each charge, concurrent. Richard George Miles, for attempting to commit rape on a child aged nine years, was sentenced to seven years' hard labour.
